A WhatsApp poll for picking a restaurant
WhatsApp is where a lot of group plans happen, and also where they go to die. A poll link keeps the decision in the chat without the 40-message back-and-forth.
Start a free pollHow it works in a WhatsApp group
1. Make a poll on Should we eat?: pick the day and time, add up to five places (or find popular ones near you).
2. Tap WhatsApp and choose your group. The message and link are filled in for you.
3. Everyone taps the link, picks a place and adds their name. No app, no sign-up.
4. Watch the votes come in, then lock in the winner and send it back to the group.
Why use a link instead of a built-in poll
WhatsApp’s own polls are handy for quick questions. A dedicated poll link is built for this one job, so it can do a few extra things:
The same link works everywhere. Some friends on WhatsApp, some on iMessage, the work lot on Teams? One link works for all of them.
The day and time come with it. Everyone sees exactly what they’re voting on.
Find places near you. Search an area or postcode and add popular spots, with ratings from Google Maps.
Friends can add their own. Each voter can add up to two places, so nobody has to hijack the chat with “what about…”.
Lock it in. When you’re ready, close the vote and send “We’re going to…” back to the group.
Questions
Do my friends need WhatsApp to vote?
No. The poll is a normal web link, so it opens in any browser, whatever app it was shared in.
Can people change their vote?
Yes, until the person who made the poll locks in the winner.
Is it free?
Yes, it’s free to make polls and free to vote.
